Jazeera Airways Restarts Direct Flights to Syria
(MENAFN) After more than a decade-long break, Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways has restarted its non-stop service to Syria, as reported by Syrian outlets on Thursday.
As per an official Syrian news outlet, the inaugural flight operated by the Kuwaiti carrier touched down at Damascus International Airport on Wednesday.
The airline mentioned that it will begin with one daily flight, with intentions “to increase to two daily flights before the end of the summer,” according to the news outlet.
This development is part of broader regional efforts aimed at reconnecting Syria with international aviation networks.
The move is expected to boost both commercial activity and tourism across the region.
In a major political shift, Syria’s long-time ruler Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia in December, marking the conclusion of the Baath Party’s dominance, which had held power since 1963.
Following this, a provisional government was established in January, with President Ahmad al-Sharaa taking the lead.
