Iran Rejects Claims of US Progress on Strait of Hormuz

(MENAFN) Iran has stated that the United States was unable to reopen the Strait of Hormuz despite what it described as repeated “tricks,” while also signaling that it possesses advanced weapon systems that have not yet been deployed, according to reports.

In remarks carried by Iranian news agency, the political deputy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said the strait had been closed under orders from IRGC Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri, adding that US efforts to change the situation had failed.

“The Americans, despite a thousand tricks and acts of deception, could not reopen it,” he said.

He also stated that Iranian armed forces remain “with fingers on the trigger” and fully prepared to respond to any future aggression.

Separately, an Iranian military source told Russian state media that Iran has developed advanced weaponry that has not yet been used in combat. The source added that the country has no shortages in its defensive capabilities and warned that restraint would not be maintained in any future confrontation.

Earlier in the day, Iran’s Strait of Hormuz authority announced the establishment of a new oversight zone in the strategic waterway, requiring ships passing through designated areas to coordinate their movements with Iranian officials.
